MORE THAN A WINE TASTING

Meet the People Behind the Wine

The wineries I choose are not simply places to stop for a tasting. They are family businesses where wine, land and tradition have been connected for generations.

Depending on the day’s itinerary, you may meet members of the family who work the vineyards, manage the cellar or produce the wines you’re tasting.

We take time to walk through the vineyards and cellars, talk about how the wines are made and enjoy each tasting without watching the clock.

This is the Tuscany I want my guests to experience — personal, unhurried and connected to the people who actually live and work here.

THE WINES OF SOUTHERN TUSCANY

Brunello, Vino Nobile & Orcia DOC

Your itinerary may explore wines from several of the great wine-producing areas surrounding Val d’Orcia.

Brunello di Montalcino

Produced around the historic hill town of Montalcino, Brunello is one of Tuscany’s most celebrated wines and is made from Sangiovese grapes.

Visiting a smaller producer gives you a chance to understand the vineyard, aging process and family traditions behind the wine.

Vino Nobile di Montepulciano

Montepulciano’s winemaking history stretches back centuries. Its historic cellars and surrounding vineyards are closely connected to the character of the town itself.

For guests staying near Montepulciano, this can be an especially natural part of the day’s route.

Orcia DOC

The vineyards of the Orcia DOC sit among the rolling landscapes of Val d’Orcia, between some of southern Tuscany’s most famous wine regions.

These smaller producers can offer a particularly personal look at contemporary Tuscan winemaking.

AN UNHURRIED DAY IN WINE COUNTRY

What Your Private Wine Tour Might Look Like

No two days have to follow exactly the same route, but a typical private wine tour includes two family-owned wineries along with time to enjoy the countryside between them.

Your First Winery

We’ll begin with a vineyard and cellar visit where you’ll learn about the estate, its wines and the family’s approach to winemaking before sitting down for a tasting.

Through the Tuscan Countryside

Between wineries, the drive becomes part of the experience. Depending on our route, we can pass through Val d’Orcia landscapes, vineyards, cypress-lined roads and historic hill towns.

A Second Family-Owned Winery

At the second winery, you’ll experience another producer and another perspective on Tuscan wine. The styles, traditions and personalities can be quite different — which is part of what makes visiting more than one winery so interesting.

I keep the day flexible so we can enjoy the places that interest you rather than rushing from one reservation to the next.

THE CIAO FABRY DIFFERENCE

A Wine Tour Built Around Relationships, Not Tasting Rooms

You can visit wineries throughout Tuscany on your own. What changes the experience is spending the day with someone local who understands the area, knows the wineries and can put the day together around you.

I choose wineries for their wine, but also for their people, atmosphere and the experience they can give my guests.

  • Small, family-owned wineries rather than a large commercial tasting circuit
  • Private transportation so nobody in your group has to worry about driving
  • Reservations and timing handled for you
  • Flexible pacing rather than a rigid group-tour schedule
  • Local context about the towns, countryside and people behind the wines

The goal isn’t simply to taste several wines. It’s to understand a little more about Tuscany through the people who produce them.
